updated 01APR2004 0225 -0500I'm currently working on Neighborhood maps, which is my current Guild project. As extracurricular, I provide these tutorial pages to assist other Guild members in making great maps. I'm also finding that a good understanding of the D'ni culture and language are essential to understanding and correctly mapping the various ages. To that end, I've been participating in discussions at the D'ni Linguistic Fellowship.
My current mapping focus is in the classroom, and my progress is illustrated by the image below (make sure to refresh in case the old image is cached).
I've recently switched to using Blender as my primary mapping tool. The below image is rendered from Blender. The primary reason for this change was to use object rotation and scaling features which are hard to duplicate in PhotoShop (see this ki mapping tutorial). In the render below, you can see, faintly, a few toran lines which I used to adjust the attitude of the tile floor. It is now (I believe) correct with respect to North (top of map). The imager and teacher's desk will appear in the southeast corner of the map.
Goals of the Classroom mapping project:
- Provide a high-quality, photorealistic orthographic overhead (image below)
- Provide a high-quality pastel map
- Include both of the above in the respective overall neighborhood maps
